Women Aware 40th Anniversary Virtual Candlelight Vigil
October 21 at 7:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
Women Aware will mark 40 years of service to individuals and families affected by domestic violence in Middlesex County, New Jersey with a 40th Anniversary Virtual Candlelight Vigil fundraiser on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
We can’t be together in person this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be here for each other. Registration is free and open to the public. Visit https://givebutter.com/WomenAware40th to register.
Moving forward from the extraordinary challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for Women Aware’s services to survivors of domestic violence continues to grow. Financial support is needed now more than ever so Women Aware can continue to provide free and confidential comprehensive services 24/7 to survivors moving beyond abuse. Each year we shelter 200 women and children in imminent danger; serve an additional 2,000 men, women, and children in safety net programs—including legal advocacy, case management, support groups, and children’s trauma reduction therapy; and respond to 5,000 hotline calls, providing support, information, safety planning, and resources to victims of domestic violence.
Make a donation, leave a comment or simply light a candle to show your support for a society where individuals can live free from violence and injustice.
During the vigil, we will honor pioneers, volunteers and partners who have lent their voices, energy and resources to help break down barriers between survivors and the services they need: Women Aware shelter founders Diane Palladino and Ellen Koteen, longtime volunteer advocate Ruth Hague, and philanthropist and founder of Sansone Auto Group Paul Sansone, Sr.
The program will feature remarks from our emergency shelter founders, survivor testimony and a tribute to all whose lives were taken by domestic violence and to all survivors moving beyond abuse.
