Save the date for the NJ Women Vote Suffrage March!
NJ Women Vote will hold a Suffrage March on Saturday, September 26, 2020 in New Brunswick, NJ, the culminating activity in the initiative’s year of events. The date is set a few weeks before the voter registration deadline for the 2020 presidential election with the goal of inspiring greater voter participation.
The march, co-sponsored by the Middlesex County Office of Arts and History, echoes a historic suffrage march that took place in New Brunswick in 1919. Marchers, parading from Voorhees Mall to Monument Square, will gather at the State Theatre to hear a special keynote speaker and series of performances focused on the history and significance of the right to vote. NJ Women Vote encourages participation from marchers representing women’s organizations, historic sites, government agencies, and colleges and universities across New Jersey as well as historic suffrage reenactors. Voter registration tables co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New Jersey will be hosted at Voorhees Mall throughout the event. Come march with us!
