NJ Vote 100 Mock Election
February 3 at 8:00 am - February 15 at 5:00 pm
On February 9, 1920, New Jersey became the 29th state to ratify the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. To mark our state’s suffrage centennial, NJ Women Vote: The 19th Amendment at 100 and the New Jersey Center for Civic Education introduce NJ Vote 100, an online mock election for New Jersey schools this February 2020. NJ Vote 100 will engage students in civics and the voting process while honoring the movement for women’s suffrage.
The election is open to middle and high school classes. Students in grades 4 through 8 will be able to vote on two “public questions” – one on making Daylight Savings Time permanent and another on delaying the start of the school day. Students in grades 9 through 12 will vote on the same questions as well as for the 2020 presidential primary. Teachers can register classes at njmockelection.org to participate. Voting will take place February 3–15, 2020.
