2120: Envisioning Equality-the Next 100 Years
June 19 at 8:00 am - 4:00 pm$100
To mark the 100th anniversary of women voting in America, the Alice Paul Institute is hosting 2120: Envisioning Equality- the Next 100 Years. The Symposium will explore how gender equality will help women and girls in their paths to achievement. In 1920 Alice Paul envisioned a world of full equality for all by 2020. We’ll explore how close we are to her vision and how much further we have to go. 2120: Envisioning Equality will give women and girls a space to share their voice and work together to envision the future.
An expert panel will define the problems and today’s issues in one of these four topic areas:
- Women in business – wage gap issues, the glass ceiling, sexual harassment
- Women and the family –poverty, child & elder care, domestic violence
- Women & the ERA
- Women in Government –women as lawmakers
Following the panel, each expert/presenter will lead an hour-long breakout session with audience members. This will be an interactive exercise, encouraging thoughtful discussion and positive, forward-thinking collaboration to create a list of solutions and the resources needed to achieve gender equality in these areas in the 21st century.
In addition to the panel and breakout sessions, the 2120: Envisioning Equality symposium will include short presentations by New Jersey women in government and a keynote presentation by ABC national news correspondent Linsey Davis.
